Bologna and Emilia Romagna have been, together with Milan, the cradles
of the advertising poster in Italy. This book, that is a unique publishing
novelty, tells the story of the “affiche” from the very half-hearted
beginning of the late Ninenteenth century up to the Fifties of the last
century. From each of the Emilia Romagna provinces, from Piacenza to Rimini,
the most significant ads have been reported, whose authors are first order
artists and illustrators of those times. What comes out is a portrait
of Italian History that while witnessing the deep changes of taste and
uses occurred in the years, at the same time reveals how poor and trivial
is instead today’s advertising.
